The corporate owner of an adult bookstore in Lombard and two former employees were found guilty of obscenity by a Du Page County court jury Friday.

Page Books Inc., which owns Bachelor`s Library at 2N044 N. Illinois Highway 53, Lombard; its former manager, Jerome Jackson of Mt. Prospect; and a former clerk, Chris Miklovic, were found guilty of two counts each of obscenity. One count was for selling magazines, the other for making video tapes available for viewing in booths in the store.

The magazines and tapes contain photos and films of adults engaging in sexual activity, according to testimony in the trial.

The verdicts were returned after a four-day trial in the courtroom of Associate Judge Donald J. Hennessy in Wheaton.

The jury apparently did not accept the defense argument that surveys show the majority of Illinois residents have no objection to making sexually explicit materials available to adults.

Defense lawyers also sought to portray the case as a matter of freedom of expression. They also argued that Miklovic and Jackson didn`t select the store`s inventory and weren`t responsible for the type of material available there.

Miklovic and Jackson were arrested when authorities raided the store on Nov. 14, 1989.
